This blog details the Frequently Asked Questions by applicants for the on-going off campus drive for the 2017 batch of students. The answers provided here to those questions should help all the applicants understand the process for applying & participating in this off -campus drive

Q. Where can I register for the Off Campus Drive?

Ans: To register for the Off Campus Drive you need to create a unique reference number. To do that request you to log on to https://nextstep.tcs.com -> Register now –> select “IT”.

Q. What is the process to apply for the Off Campus Drive?

Ans: Your candidature for the TCS Offcampus Drive of 2017 will be considered only after completing the below mentioned steps:

  • Successful completion of the Registration and Application form.
  • Click on the 'Apply to Off Campus Drive'.

Steps to "Apply to Off Campus Drive"

Once the Application form is completed, please logout of Next Step.

1. Login once again with your CT/DT Reference Id or registered email Id.

2. On the Homepage on the left  hand side menu click on Apply for Off Campus Drive.

3. Check the Eligibilty and Select/update nearest Test Location and Apply.

Q What is the last last date to apply for the drive? 

The last date to apply for the drive will be the 21st of January, 2018 at 23:59 hrs

Q. If I already have a CT or a DT number, do I need to register again?

Ans: If you already have a CT or a DT reference number, you can continue with the same number. You need not create your profile again

Q. Can I make changes to my profile as I have made some mistakes in my profile?

Ans: If you are creating your profile for the first time, please update the details carefully as no changes can be made to the profile once created for the below fields – Name, Date of Birth,  Title, Address, Email ID, Telephone Number.

You can edit details of other fields (except the above) by clicking “Edit Application form” and updating the required details.

Q. I already have my CT/DT number. I need to update my marks/CGPA in my application form. How can I do so?

Ans: You can edit the details by clicking “Edit Application form” and updating the required details.

Q. I already have my CT/DT number. Can I make changes to my Name/Date of Birth/ Title/Address/Email ID/Telephone Number?

Ans: No changes can be made to the above fields once your profile has been created.

Q. I have created 2 profiles. What should I do now?

Ans: Only 1 profile needs to be created per candidate. Duplicate profile should not be created. You will need to write to ilp.support@tcs.com for deletion of your duplicate profile

Q. How do I change my Institute/ College name in my Application form?
Ans: Please follow the below steps to make changes in your Institute and College name if incorrect. Logon to Next Step with CT/DT ref ID and password =>Click on ' Edit Application Form' => Type and Select correct Institute name from the Institute options that appear (It will automatically reflect in the registration form). In case the Institute name is not appearing in the suggestions, you can continue to type your Institute name correctly and proceed.

Q. I am getting an error while updating my X (10th) or XII (12th) Standard details in the application form. What should I do?

Ans: Please note you need to enter minimum 12 months upto maximum 16 months in your X (10th) std Course duration details. Similarly you need to enter minimum 12 months upto maximum 16 months in your XII (12th) std Course duration details. For example: For 12th std please enter your course duration as 01/06/2012 to 30/06/2013

Q. I have updated all my details correctly, however, I am still not getting the link to „Apply for Drive“. What should I do?

Ans: The qualification which you have entered in the Application form for graduation or post graduation should be as per the Eligibility criteria for the Off Campus Drive. 
For eg. If you have registered as a Bachelor of Computer Science (which is applicable  for B.Sc computer science , you will not get the link to Apply for Drive. You need to click on "Edit Application Form" and change the Qualification in your Application form to the correct Qualification for the Off Campus Drive to get the link to Apply for Drive. For example if you are an engineering graduate then choose your qualification as Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology, as applicable.

Q. When will I receive my hall ticket?

Ans:  Your candidature for the TCS Offcampus Drive of 2017 will be considered only after completing the below mentioned steps:

  • Successful completion of the Registration and Application form.
  • Clicked on the 'Apply to Off Campus Drive'.
  • Only Short listed candidates who meet the TCS Eligibilitty criteria will receive hall tickets.

Hall tickets will be sent out after the Last date of Registration for the Off Campus Drive

Q. Where can I check my Hall Ticket?

Ans: You will need to access and download your Hall ticket from your profile in Next Step portal.

Q. What do I need to carry for the Off Campus Test?

Ans: Once your Hall Ticket is generated, please check your Hall Ticket for the documents you need to carry for the Off Campus Test

Q. What time and place do I need to report for the Off Campus Test?

Ans: Please refer to the Hall Ticket for the Reporting time and place for the Off Campus Test.

Q. Will Interviews also be conducted on the day of the Off Campus Test?

Ans: No, interviews will not be conducted on the day of the Off Campus Test.If you clear the Off campus Test, details of the Interview schedule will be sent to you on your registered email id.

Q. I am not able to come for the test at my reporting time as mentioned on the Hall Ticket. Can I change the timing of the test?

Ans: No, you cannot change the timing of the test. You will have to report at the time mentioned in your Hall Ticket.

Q. I want to change my Test Location. Where can I do so?

Ans: You need to update the Nearest Test location (Personal Details section) while updating your Application form. You can make changes to the Nearest Test Location until your profile status is “Application Received”. You can validate the nearest Test Location while Applying for Drive. Once the test location has been selected by you, it cannot be changed if your Hall Ticket has already been generated. 

Q. I will not be able to attend the Off campus test as I am out of town. Can you please change the date?

Ans: The date of the Off Campus Test cannot be changed.

Q. How will we get the results of the Off Campus Test?

Ans: The Results of the Off Campus Test will be sent by email to your registered email id.

Q When is the off campus test scheduled? 

Ans: The off campus test will be conducted on the 31st of January, 2018.  

Q: What are the necessary documents / items to be carried on the date of test to the examination center?
Ans : It is mandatory to carry the below mentioned documents with you on the day of the test:

  • Two color print copies of your Hall Ticket
  • Your photo identity proof in original for verification (PAN Card / Driving License / Passport / Voter ID / Aadhar Card). In case you do not have any of the mentioned Photo ID proofs, it is mandatory to carry Photo Identity proof issued and attested by a Gazetted Officer on official letter head. You will not be permitted to appear for the test if you fail to carry the TCS Hall Ticket or any of the above mentioned documents
  • You are permitted to carry only 2 HB pencils (No mechanical pencils) and scientific calculator inside the examination hall. Please carry your own stationery as borrowing of these items from others will not be allowed. Rough sheets will be provided by TCS at the venue
  • List of items which are Banned inside the examination hall : Bags, pens, mechanical pencils, cell phones and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited. The examination center will not be responsible for safekeeping of these items.

Important points:

  • Beware of fraudsters and fraudulent job offers. Please note that TCS Does NOT
    • Send job offers from free internet email services like Gmail, Rediffmail, Yahoo mail, Hotmail, and so on.
    • Ask you to deposit any money for giving job offers to Experienced Professionals or Fresh Graduate Trainees
    • Appoint any agent/agency/company to advertise about TCS Off campus hiring or conduct any employment interviews or make offers of employment/benefits on its behalf.
