My aspiration of working at TCS took me to various campus recruitment roadshows and webinars. Then came TESTimony 2014 – TCS’ testing and assurance contest. Along with exciting prizes, winners were also awarded job offers to join TCS. I was nervous about facing off against engineering students from all over India, but I registered. TESTimony was a team contest, and my partner Manjula and I would discuss testing for hours. We read books on testing, researched on the internet, and browsed TCS’ Campus Commune for curriculum on testing tools, practices and success stories.
We cleared the first round – the testing quiz. The second round had specific focus on software testing tools. Here on, our preparation centred around building an in-depth understanding of tools in test automation and performance testing, specifically Selenium and Jmeter. We were selected for the third and final round. I was a TESTimony finalist and I was invited to TCS’ Siruseri campus in Chennai. The finale centred on case studies, offering students a sneak peek into real world, business scenarios. We received hands-on mentoring from leaders from TCS’ Assurance Unit, and it was exhilarating to present to a panel of TCS and industry experts. Then came the much awaited awards announcement. We had won TESTimony! I was awarded an Apple iPAD and a career opportunity in software testing.
